Darren and Holly’s Fresh Take on Modern Home Design
Parents Holly and Darren have two young children and should be enjoying one of the happiest times in their lives. With a completely dated and dysfunctional layout, can an ambitious renovation reconnect this young family?

Instead of thriving, this family is barely surviving. Two-year-old Hartley, loving referred to as “Destructo,” is constantly creating chaos leaving Holly at her wits end. Darren also suffers from sleep apnoea, so this exhausted family has just never found the time to get on top of the growing clutter. They should be living their best life in their first family home, but the state of the house has only created resentment between this couple.
As Darren heads off to work every day, Holly counts down the minutes until her arrives home and can rescue her from the cluttered nightmare.
Living Room - Before
Looking around a good size room with a nice big window and nice floorboards, Cherie didn't like the fact that there was no visible kitchen or dining room, toys everywhere with no storage. Darren and holly were in front of an overwhelming landscape of clutter, finding no one can be functional when you have so many belongings. While Cherie unveiled an enormous problem, leak damage and a rotted floor that could put in jeopardy the whole reno.
Living Room - After
The lounge room hass been divided between a living and dining room, now it has got lots of personality, ton of storage, plenty of space for the kids to play, and new stunning and vivid furniture for Darren and Holly to relax. Updated electricals, a dining table to have family dinners, beautiful feature lights.
"Much more functional, much more open and much more inviting, I could never dream something like this" said Darren.
Kitchen - Before
"This kitchen is a shocker, the dated cabinets, the appliences are so old, the colour scheme is wacked" said Cherie. An 1980s look with no space, the layout wasn't great, a totally disconnected kitchen from the dining area, the lack of storage would not let this family prepare meals or store their things.
Kitchen - After
The old appliances were replaced and the old tiled floor removed, new imponent large tiles with little groutting for easy maintenance in kitchen areas, much more room, beautiful wall tiles and carrara marble laminate bench tops, the separating wall was brought down giving the previous disconnected areas the look they were meant to have. Darren and Holly were blowned away.
"I love these tiles, they actually look like big slabs of stone" Cherie exclaimed.

Bathroom - Before
The bathroom was in desperate need of someone's help, there was evidence of water damage, making one of the biggest renos ever attempted in Space Invaders.
Bathroom - After
The broken tiles were repaired, the dated mosaic floor tiles replaced and with the floor and walls grouted it's now got a much fresher look. A new modern shower screen was added.

The Master Bedroom & Kid's Room
To get the couple sharing the same bed, Cherie's given the uninviting master bedroom a more intimate feel. Holly and Darren love floral designs so a native wallpaper design was perfect with a cooper pendant that creates that sense of romance, for a couple that needs a place to relax away from the kids. The kid's room has now so much personality.
