Creating your own perfect outdoor oasis is the Aussie dream, but you need to make sure you choose the right outdoor tiles, for the space. You will need a tile that stands up to the outdoor elements like rain, dirt, or even the BBQ and grill splatter, so your outdoor tiles will need a few special features to meet the needs of the space. We suggest finding an outdoor tile that has a glazed porcelain body for strength and longevity. Also, because the tiles will get wet, considering the slip rating of the tile, we recommend buying outdoor tiles that are P4 or above.
Did you know that we also sell pavers for your backyard? Our extremely sturdy 20mm thick paver tiles are an absolute win, as they have all the practicality of glazed porcelain tiles without the upkeep of stone or concrete pavers. And they have a manufactured and measured slip resistance, so you don’t leave safety to chance.
Tiles are so good, you can buy outdoor floor tiles and tile from your front gate to your portico, around the side of your house, downstairs to your patio and then right to your pool edge. How amazing is that! We’ve even seen garages being tiled with outdoor tiles to become an extra family entertaining space!

Australians love to enjoy the great outdoors, and if Beaumont’s can help with creating a patch of outdoor gorgeousness in your home, that makes us very happy! The difference between outdoor and indoor tiles is mainly about the slip rating, when tiles are exposed to the elements, our hard-working outdoor tiles are good at minimising slipping on tiles. We have 10mm thick tiles that can be laid on concrete slabs, as well 20mm thick paver tiles that you can lay on gravel/sand base for landscaping.
The number one benefit of laying tiles in your home is their durability and longevity. The body of a tile is made from extremely dense porcelain, and it can survive extreme heat right through to freezing temperatures. Combine this with a surface finish with a P4 or P5 slip rating to traverse wet surfaces safely, tiles become the ultimate outdoor hard surface material! Read out guide on selecting the right tiles for your space for more information.
Remove any dirt and debris with a good hearty sweep, make sure you get into all the places where dirt builds up otherwise this will smear dirt around your nice clean outdoor tiles. After the loose dirt is now back in your garden where it belongs, let's get some water on it using your garden hose. Wash the area thoroughly and loosen any compact dirt. If you have a high-pressure hose, this is a great time to take it for a spin. If it needs some more love after this point, grab your long-handled scrub brush and a bucket of water with tile and stone cleaner. To finish, pick up your garden hose again to rinse the tiles off. Read our full guide on how to clean outdoor tiles. If your outdoor tiles are natural stone, refer to our Natural Stone Specialist Brochure for more information.
If you have an alfresco, patio or veranda that has an existing concrete slab. Choosing one of our external tiles with 10mm thickness is a great choice. Or you may have laid a new concrete slab to create your new indoor to outdoor living space.
For those in the know, we also have 20mm Porcelain Paver Tiles! These beauties are laid on a gravel/sand base and can be treated exactly the same as normal pavers. Porcelain 20mm paver tiles are so easy to install, as they are straight, and they won’t curl in the sun and break the bond like a natural stone is prone to.
When it comes to the installation of outdoor tiles on a concrete slab, the grout isn’t that much different from indoor tiles, especially if you seal your grout after installation. For the long term, I would definitely consider a quality EPOXY grout. This is durable and resistant to the weather, and exceptionally easy to clean off dirt. It sounds like this is the winner for outdoor tiles.
