Waking up in the morning and heading for the shower can be as important as your morning coffee. With decisions on waterproofing and bathroom drainage, it’s imperative to get your shower space right.
Your personal preference in how you lay out your space is top priority; you can design a custom shower base to suit. If you like a luxuriously long shower tiling a shower base with a seat could be the right option. Otherwise choosing bathroom tiles for your shower base can be quite easy.
If you have a strip drain you can choose both large tiles or small tiles. If you have a point drain in the middle of your shower you will need to choose smaller tiles or get your tiler to cut your tiles to achieve the correct falls. For a simpler solution, our Wedi shower waterproofing systems come ready to install and already have correct falls built in. Choose from the Primo, Riolito or Ligno shower bases to use in conjunction with the Wedi system. Our Beaumont team would love to talk about this waterproofing system with you.
Complete your dream shower with Beaumonts range of bathroomware including shower screens, bathroom accessories and tapware.
Most bathrooms in Australia have a tiled shower base. It is truly the most practical and cohesive option for your shower. When waterproofed and installed correctly tiled shower floors are as stunning as they are practical. Combined with a channel floor grate waste, they provide the flexibility to have whatever size and shape is needed for your space.
Every shower needs a waste, with falls to guide all the shower water easily down the drain. Smaller floor tiles make it easier to follow the fall in the floor toward the drain. Larger floor tiles need to be combined with a floor grate, which is channel drainage and the falls are angled towards a lineal point, rather than a single point.
The best shower base is tiled to give the highest efficiency and unified look. When combined with a waterproof membrane and epoxy grout.
There are other types of systems like a shower tray or a shower pan. These usually cover the base of the shower completely and are made with Acrylic, Moulded Stone, or Fibreglass.
How big do you want your shower to be? When tiling your shower base, one of the best benefits is that you get to choose. If you have the space, why not design a double shower in your bathroom?
Tiling a shower floor can definitely be done as a DIY job, but there are quite a few requirements to make sure that the water drains away down the waste. Check out our video on how to tile a bathroom floor and wall.
