Selling in the City 2022
Woolloongabba QLD
Woolloongabba is a suburb on the move and, with high-rise developments towering over them, Leah and Andrew are ready to swap the hustle and bustle of this now vibrant neighbourhood to live out their dream in the Australian bush. However, competing in a market with so many modern developments isn’t easy, so they’ve called on Rosie and Paddy to turn their old Victorian worker’s cottage into something more befitting of Brisbane’s contemporary lifestyle.
The Selling in the City team, Landscape Artist Paddy Milne and award-winning Interior Designer Rosie Morley, set off to explore vibrant Woolloongabba and discover what it is that has young people hustling and flocking there.
Once a thriving working-class factory suburb on the cheaper side of the Brisbane River, recent years have seen Woolloongabba attract unprecedented growth. Property developers have flocked to the area, seduced by the large and cheap parcels of post-industrial land to build their high-rise towers on.
Leah and Andrew have lived in their little Woolloongabba workers’ cottage since 2009. Over a decade on and the landscape of the suburb they moved into has changed dramatically. It’s now a fast-paced suburb on one of Brisbane’s busiest roads and Leah and Andrew are ready to leave it to the younger generation in favour of a quieter lifestyle in the Australian bush.
The problem is they want $1,200,000, which is far from its current value of $900,000. With only a $60,000 budget, Rosie and Paddy will have to focus on where they can make the most impact. But will it be enough?
