Nat bought her apartment back in 2012 when she was young, single and travelled a lot for work. It was the perfect party pad with the world at her doorstep. But, now Nat wants to settle down with her partner Sheldon so has enlisted the help of Rosie and Paddy to overhaul her outdated apartment so she can live out her dream of a quieter life out of the city.

Nat’s apartment is currently valued at $680,000 but to achieve her dream she needs $820,000. With a budget of $50,000 Rosie and Paddy have a lot of work ahead of them, but before they get their hands dirty, they need to hit the streets of South Melbourne to get a better understanding of the area and the market they’ll be designing for.

South Melbourne comes as a great surprise, a village atmosphere on the city fringe, it’s the best of both worlds and the epicentre of Melbourne’s food and coffee culture with a smorgasbord of different cuisines on every corner. They chat with locals at the colourful South Melbourne Markets and end their discovery at the National Gallery of Victoria which provides them their inspiration for Nat’s small apartment.

Deciding on a white gallery style for the apartment. They start in the downstairs space by knocking down the two non structural walls on either side of the kitchen opening up the entire level.

Paddy decided to incorporate the ‘living wall’ he discovered during their exploration by installing a moss wall in the bathroom behind the vanity mirrors.

The installation of the noggin wall throughout the apartment was a key feature for Rosie to incorporate the gallery like feature into the place.

The interior styling completed the renovation and included LED smart lighting throughout the apartment and was inspired by a modern New York style aesthetic.
