Selling in the City 2022
Fitzroy VIC
Nothing says cool more than Melbourne’s very own coolest suburb...Fitzroy! Rosie and Paddy head to the bohemian capital to experience the alternative side of Melbourne and to help former professional basketballer Wheels and his rundown apartment. Wheels has had his Fitzroy apartment for the better part of 20 years, but is now ready to part ways so he can head north and be closer to his work with the communities in the Top End.
The Selling in the City team, Landscape Artist Paddy Milne and award-winning Interior Designer Rosie Morley, set out to capture the ethos of Fitzroy and the history that was The Champion Hotel.
Fitzroy is one of the coolest suburbs in the world and a playground for bourgeois hipsters, students, artists and everything in between. It’s a melting pot of creativity, eccentricity, bars, clubs and music venues.
Wheels is a former professional basketballer who purchased his apartment in the heart of Fitzroy back in 1999. It’s been his crash pad over the years, having spent a lot of time on the road playing basketball and now with his volunteer work in remote indigenous communities.
His unique two-bedroom apartment, complete with turret, is nestled on top of the old ‘Champion Hotel’, an iconic building in Fitzroy with a rich past. But it’s a far cry from its glory days. Wheels’ apartment is heritage listed, but its original features are all that are redeeming.
Valued at $1,000,000 Wheels is hoping for $1,200,000 so he can fulfil his dream of buying a patch of dirt in the desert and be closer to his work.
With a budget of 125k, Rosie and Paddy set out to capture the ethos of Fitzroy and the history that was The Champion Hotel.
