Bec Douros and Dave "guaranteed garden week win" Franklin, from The Block, tour and discuss the country home renovated by Scott Cam on season 2022 of The Block.

The Block 2022

In season 2022 of The Block, arguably the BIGGEST season ever, not only did the Blockheads move out to the countryside for a tree change, so did The Block’s Scott Cam! He took on the dual role of hosting the show while also building his own country retreat along with his adorable rescue Kelpie and star of the season, Frankie.

When Scotty first arrived at the homestead three months before the contestants, he knew it was going to be a tough challenge ahead. The weatherboard house was built in 1866 by Scottish immigrant Joseph McGeorge, meaning it had been sitting for 154 years. The place was falling to bits as no one had lived there for more than 25 years. But, Scotty saw great potential in it and its rich, dense history and has begun renovating the house into a beautiful home.

Master Ensuite

Scotty transformed the bathroom into a luxurious space. It is spacious with a big shower, footed bathtub, vanity, toilet and fireplace. That's right – a fireplace in the bathroom! In fact there are fireplaces in pretty much every room.

"They were all original and they're just so beautiful so we built around them all," Scotty said.

Guest Ensuite

The ensuite continued the pink theme of the guest bedroom, but flipped it with pink floor tiles and white walls. To help balance out the white and pink, gold tap and shower fixtures were included along with patterned towels.

Kitchen & Laundry

Scotty's kitchen was a masterclass in styling for both functionality and aesthetics. Being a Block kitchen Scotty also had a butler's pantry with ample storage thanks to the pull-out pantry, which makes use of space between the fridge and the wall.

Scotty's combined mudroom and laundry has space to take your muddy boots off and store your coats and hats, as well as a dog bed for Frankie.

Pool Cabana

Things happen pretty fast on the set of The Block, but no more than Scotty’s revolutionary pool cabana – the southern hemisphere's first 3D printed building!

Like a giant mechanical icecream machine, the concrete “printing” started after the concrete slab base was poured and then it took just 28 hours to make the wave-form walls.

Guests can chill out and enjoy a meal after a swim here, but there’s also a kitchen with plenty of storage and style as well as a living room, dining room and spectacular bathroom making the most of the unique curved walls.

The pool itself features stunning shimmery tiles that just look magical in the glow of the sun. It's the perfect place to spend a summer day, with chairs in the shade for relaxing in-between dips.
