Find The Best Terrazzo Tiles For You
Terrazzo tiles have had a long enduring history of hundreds of years, not just a fad that is here one day and gone the next. Originally it is formed from granite, marble, glass, quartz shells, or other fragments mixed together to get an aggregate effect. We love terrazzo for such diverse looks between each terrazzo look tile range, using various colours, size of aggregate chips, and how spaced out they are.

Terrazzo Tile FAQ’s
What are terrazzo tiles?
When researching your dream bathroom, living room, or kitchen online, it’s difficult to miss all the drool-worthy installations of terrazzo tiles. The original terrazzo tiles are made up of a composite stone with an assortment of glittering aggregate generously scattered throughout. There is a downside to this type of flooring; it has higher upkeep and restrictions because it is porous, and also has a high price tag. Beaumont’s range of terrazzo emulated tiles are all made with a porcelain body, which means super easy cleaning, a very small amount of upkeep, and a practical choice of floor for families and pets. They also have stunning glittering aggregate chips using special glaze technology in the manufacturing process.
Do terrazzo tiles need grout?
Terrazzo tiles made with a porcelain body definitely do need grout. It is exactly the same installation process as any other glazed porcelain tile. The most popular grout to use is a flexible cement-based grout. When choosing your colour of grout, choose one that blends in with the base colour of the terrazzo design. As always, we recommend sealing your cement-based grout after installation to save some scrubbing in the future. Or if you detest bathroom cleaning with a passion, I would highly recommend investing in a quality epoxy grout, which is exceptionally easy to clean off, and very hygienic.
Do terrazzo tiles need to be sealed?
If you have chosen a ridgy-didge genuine terrazzo tile, it will definitely need to be sealed. Authentic terrazzo tiles are made with a composite stone that has open pores. This means these pores need to be sealed over with a penetrating sealer to prevent staining and make ongoing maintenance easier. Beaumont’s have an absolutely gorgeous range of porcelain body terrazzo look tiles, which is one of the most practical flooring choices in the world, with no sealing required!
Do terrazzo tiles stain?
Terrazzo tiles that are made with composite stone and aggregate chips are prone to staining especially when they are not sealed before installation. This is one of the reasons we don’t have any in our range. All our terrazzo design tiles have a porcelain body that is stain resistant, and they have a very simple cleaning regime.
How do I clean terrazzo tiles?
Genuine terrazzo tiles need to be cleaned with a neutral pH cleaner, anything else should be avoided at all costs! Our emulation terrazzo tiles with a porcelain body are cleaned just like any other glazed porcelain tile. We recommend not using a soap-based cleaning product as they can leave a thin film on the tiles that will attract more dirt. Instead, use a pH-neutral cleaning like our Miracle Tile & Stone Cleaner.
