Welcome back

With a huge range of tiles in all colours, materials, shapes and sizes; it could be easy for us to forget about the humble white tile, but we never do.

White has always been a great choice for walls and floors. It's light, bright, open (great for making small bathrooms seem bigger), can be minimal and warm, and having a white canvas for your room means more options for decorating with furniture, art, and accessories.

White tiles are the perfect choice for being more creative with texture too. As our strategic designer Christie says, "You can never underestimate the importance of texture in bathroom design, it adds visual weight, creates space, and reflects light - the possibilities are endless with the right tile."

Trying to pick just four favourite white tiles was definitely a challenge with so many great floor tiles, wall tiles, and decorative tiles in so many styles and sizes to choose from. Let us know what you think of our choices! From four to one, including Style Tips for each tile:

Wood Essence White

"Imagine showcasing timber on a shower floor: you can't achieve this with natural timber."

Wood Essence White adds glamour and an edgy feel to any room (especially bathrooms!) only previously achieved with natural floorboards, now of course with all the benefits of a tile. This timber look tile is available with a textured finish too, meaning great slip resistance for wet areas.

The super-long 150x963 size is sure to add visual drama to any space.

Style Tip: Make the most of interesting textures by decorating with textiles like cushions, towels, throws, and even rugs in cool, dark neutrals.

Gloss White 100x400

Continuing the theme of longer tiles is Gloss White 100x400. Much sleeker and shinier than Wood Essence, Gloss White is extremely versatile. I would love to see it laid up a wall in a houndstooth pattern like this room designed by Faye Toogood and showcased in Vogue Living Australia.

Style Tip: Use a dark contrasting grout and experiment with different patterns to really highlight the unusual size and shape of the tiles.

Gastone Carrara White

This tile was featured in a previous list of our most romantic tiles, and has once again made the cut. Gastone Carrara White replicates all the beauty and sophistication of natural Tuscan Carrara marble without all the up-keep and worry about staining that comes with real marble. Great for a touch of luxury in any home - without breaking the bank!

Style Tip: There's something a little grand and a little 'Old World' about marble tiles, so make it stand out on a large feature wall against super modern furniture and fittings. Pair with a dark industrial floor such as concrete-look tiles like Belga Charcoal.

Super White Polished Porcelain

There's not a lot that needs to be said about our favourite white tile! Available in all sizes including the large format floor tiles, Super White is the ultimate in Polished Porcelain, and one of our most popular tiles. Click through to see it in 298x298, 450x450, or 600x600.

Style Tip: You can do pretty much anything you want with these tiles, though it is the perfect partner to natural light: it can make a lot of a little, or it can really open up your space where there is plenty of natural light.
