Selling Houses Australia 2022

Bridport TAS

Single mother Charmaine spent her life raising her three children before training as a nurse and entering the workforce. A couple of years ago, Charmaine received a small inheritance and decided to invest it in property, in the hope of renovating and flipping it to raise money for her retirement plan. Charmaine purchased the property for $330,000 in 2020 and quickly learned she had underestimated the work needed to repair and update it for sale.

The Selling Homes Australia team Wendy Moore & Dennis Scott, led by real estate expert Andrew Winter, renovated the property to boost its appeal. But, would that be enough for a successful sale?

Share:

Charmaine’s daughter and her young family currently live in the property, but the house is unsuitable for a growing family, so Charmaine wants to sell. By securing a sale, her daughter and her family can move on, and Charmaine can get back on track with her retirement plan.

The interior of the property desperately needed a cosmetic lift, so it could attract potential holiday home buyers. The property needed to be made fit for a family to arrive, relax, and begin their holiday.

Kitchen - Before

While the bedroom sizes and ceiling heights are generous, the kitchen and combined living / dining areas were compact. Every inch of these areas needed to be used cleverly for maximum impact.

To address this, Wendy added a spacious kitchen island with storage and seating to double up as a meals area. The kitchen is key to the sale of any home, so Wendy transformed this tight space with new cabinetry, appliances, cupboard handles, a beautiful new benchtop and a Carrara Mosaic Splashback. The kitchen is now a beautiful and functional space for entertaining and relaxing.

Ready to Sell!

After Andrew Winter, Wendy Moore and Dennis Scott arrived to help, the “hideous” house has been totally transformed into a light-filled, breezy and inviting home "like something out of a magazine"!

The character-filled holiday house, with spectacular seaside views, is now worth the $600k that Charmaine needs to retire comfortably.
