What is under tile heating?
Can you imagine walking on tiles in the middle of winter with toasty toes? Is there actually a better and more practical flooring choice than tiles with under tile heating? The heating element is installed as a layer under the adhesive/glue and tiles in the floor area of your choice. It is then controlled by a touch-screen thermostat.
Is under tile heating safe?

How efficient is under tile heating?
They’re so energy efficient, that they cost less to operate than a standard heating lamp at just 700 watts for a typical bathroom compared to the latter’s 1.5 kilowatts for the same space. The best strategy to keep under tile heating efficient is to run it at full capacity for 30 minutes while heating and then cycling at 50% capacity following the first 30 minutes. So on average, Hotwire under tile heating costs approximately 2c per m2 per hour.
What are the advantages of under tile heating?
There are many advantages to having under tile heating in your bathroom or living areas.
Under tile heating radiates warmth from the ground up. I don’t know about you, but my feet are firmly on the ground, and that’s where I want my heat to come from. Heating the air just isn’t as toasty or evenly spread.
Under tile heating is controlled by a fully programmable touch screen, or for the WIFI enabled units, from your phone as well. Wouldn’t it be lovely to turn your heat on before you travel home for a warm welcome as soon as you walk in?

How is under tile heating installed?
The heating cable is positioned between the tiler’s screed and the tile layer. The best advantage of this is that it is very responsive and it won’t take long to be toasty warm. The cable is spaced out in continuous lines 60mm apart, then connected with the thermostat and timer which allows you to program and automate the system that suits your household the best.
