A bathroom mirror is a helpmate you don’t want to be without for your morning routine; and essential for shaving, for makeup, cleaning teeth, and styling hair.
Mirrors are also glamorous, and shiny while maximising light and enhancing the sense of space.
But which one is the right one for you? Beaumonts have lots of bathroom mirror ideas including bathroom mirror cabinets to help you choose. Firstly, think about the shapes you have already chosen, is your basin round, choose a round mirror. Or maybe your feature bathroom tiles are behind your bathroom vanity, choose two frameless mirrors behind your double vanity so the mirrors don’t cover them completely. Although our mirrors are usually not our most favourite item in the bathroom first thing in the morning, it is the number one functional help in our daily grooming routine. There are a few things to consider to make sure your bathroom mirror is the best one for you.
Task lighting is very important in a bathroom. There are many ways to achieve this, including downlights over the basin, and sconce wall lights next to your mirror, but arguably the best way is to integrate your lighting into your mirror. If you love an even spread of light over your face when shaving or doing your make-up you cannot get any better than a front-lit LED mirror.
Make sure your mirror is large enough for your grooming. Long hair using a curling wand or straighteners will find it easier to see if it is a larger size. But shaving and applying make-up requires a bit closer proximity or even magnification if your eyesight isn’t perfect.
A good quality bathroom mirror should start with high-quality glass, in purity, flatness, thickness, and reflective coating. Ask about the manufacturer's guarantee when selecting a mirror, this is a representation of the confidence they have in their product. Another key indicator is the price of the mirror, you do get what you pay for when it comes to quality.
We think that the best and most convenient solution is an integrated demister built into the mirror. These can be turned on, and can even have a timer automatically set to turn off after an hour.
The trick that has been used over many decades is to apply a layer of surfactants that help prevent water condensation particles from clinging to the glass, like a window de-fogger that you might use on your car windows. These need to be reapplied regularly to keep up their de-fogging power.
