Floor grates are an elegant drainage system that has as much practicality as it does with a luxurious look in your bathroom or outdoor areas. They come in a choice of styles, lengths and widths, and some can be cut to custom lengths.
Tiling and grouting need to be installed and properly dried before installing the grate.
When a tiler screeds the floor, they are levelling the floor towards the drain, and the flow of the water will be enough to push the water down the drain inside the floor grate. When you use a linear drainage system, the fall of the floor will be directed towards a lineal catchment rather than a singular point. This is brilliant when you are wanting to choose a larger floor tile on a bathroom floor.
A floor waste is a requirement in the shower area, but it would depend on your bathroom design if you need an additional floor drain outside that.
Cleaning a bathroom grate is simple. You can use warm water or a weak solution of ph neutral cleaner with a soft cloth. Gently use a circular motion to clean away any debris or hair that may have collected between cleans. Then rise off with warm water. There may be a layer that can be lifted off to access the catchment/channel below.
It is very important not to use abrasive or hard chemicals on your bathroom grates.
