| Fixing GuidelinesWallW.R. Boards or Fibre Cement Sheets FloorParticle Boards, Fibre Cement Sheets and Concrete Background preparationWallW.R. boards or Fibre Cement Sheets shall be fixed according to manufacturer's instructions. Ensure that sheets are dry, clean, free of dirt, oil and all forms of contamination. FloorsFix wet area boards or compressed Fibre Cement Sheets according to manufacturer's instructions. Ensure that sheets are dry, clean, free of dirt, oil and all forms of contamination. Apply ABA Multiprime to floor and leave to dry. PrimingThe surfaces to receive ABA Multiprime are fibre cement sheets and concrete. Apply primer with paint roller or brush. Primer will be touch dry in 25 minutes depending on weather conditions. Coverage of primer is approximately 7 square metres per litre. Shower recessesThe interface between wall and floor and between vertical corners is the most critical. Apply a silicone bead and allow to cure. Apply reinforcement mat in the following areas:
in the following manner: Apply a coat of Barrierflex mixed 1 to 1 with a flat trowel, paint roller or brush. Immediately position the Reinforcement Mat in the wet Barrierflex to ensure it is completely bedded with no air below it. Cover the Reinforcement Mat with a 2nd coat of Barrierflex. WaterproofingUse Beaumont's Barrierflex as waterproof membrane. 1:1 ratio. Apply 2 coats of Barrierflex with paint roller or spread on wall and floor with flat trowel to 1mm thickness. Forms a seamless membrane which is waterproof, flexible, tough, lightweight and durable. AdhesivesThe following adhesives are suitable for tiling over a Barrierflex waterproof membrane.
GroutingDo not fix ceramic tiles with tight joints. Joint widthsDo not fix ceramic tiles with tight joints. Use the following limits, unless otherwise specified.
GroutsUse Flexigrout coloured group mixed with water. Do not use cement. Flexigrout should not be used at a joint width greater than 6 mm. Use ABA Quarry and Slate Grout mixed with grout additive for wider joints. For situations where hygiene and/or resistance to chemical is a major consideration, use ABA Expoxy Mortar Grout. Movement jointsIt is important that the following guidelines regarding movement joints be followed in all jobs.
